Recruitment Range : $29.14-$33.87 hourly dependent on knowledge and experience
Minimum Preparation for Work :
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Government, Public Administration, Economics, Business, Accounting or a related field and;
- Three (3) years of experience in grant writing, submission of grant proposals, or grant management, with a focus on federal or state grants such as those from the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT), Maritime Administration (MARAD), Build America Bureau, U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and Florida Seaport Transportation Economic Development (FSTED); or
- Combination of education, training, and / or work experience equal to or greater than the requirements listed above as determined by Human Resources.

Nature of Work :
The Port Grant Writer and Manager is a professional level position responsible for securing and managing grant funding for port-related projects, and focusing on federal and state funding opportunities through agencies like the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT), Maritime Administration (MARAD), Build America Bureau, U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and Florida Seaport Transportation Economic Development (FSTED).
The role involves researching, preparing, and managing grant applications and awards to support the Port's infrastructure, operational needs, and strategic objectives. Collaboration with internal and external stakeholders is essential to ensure alignment with grant requirements and Port goals. Under the direction of the Port Director, this individual researches and drafts competitive grant proposals aligned with the City's strategic goals and objectives. This position exercises independent judgment within the scope of assigned duties. Work performance is evaluated based on observed and attained results.
