Recruitment Range: $47,486.40-$55,203.20 annually dependent on knowledge and experience

Minimum Preparation for Work:
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Special Event Management, Marketing, Recreation Management, Hospitality Management, or other related degree; and
- Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience, planning and coordinating events and programs.
- Combination of education, training, and/or work experience equal to or greater than the requirements listed above as determined by Human Resources.
Necessary Special Requirements:
- Possession of an appropriate driver license for equipment operated and any license, training or certification required by law or regulation to complete assigned tasks.
Nature of Work:
This is administrative work that has responsibility for coordinating special events held on city properties and rights-of-way to include oversight of special events, park rentals, and City equipment rentals.
An employee in this class performs those tasks required to implement the strategy of the City of Pensacola as it relates to community events for all citizens. The primary duties include coordinating events, community functions, and vending permit program(s) management, and performs related duties as assigned. Performance is evaluated based on observed and achieved results.
Examples of Work:
- Plans, organizes and implements special events for the community, including concerts and performances, outdoor movies, festivals, etc.
- Manages the permitting process for special events and facilitates rental arrangements for the 94 parks situated within the City of Pensacola.
- Offers technical assistance to city departments, community organizations, and event organizers to ensure compliance with City regulations, policies, as well as federal, state, and local laws and ordinances.
- Collaborates with City departments, the Blue Wahoos, citizens, and organized groups to manage the utilization of specialized equipment and venue-specific properties for events.
- Facilitates effective communication of event logistics, troubleshoots issues, and collaboratively find solutions in coordination with pertinent city departments.
- Engages in community outreach with citizens and community leaders to educate them on city policies, procedures, and best practices for both small and large-scale events.
- Ensures thorough understanding and compliance with lease agreements.
- Maintains routine records and prepares reports.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Knowledge of principles and techniques of public recreation techniques.
- Knowledge of event planning and entertainment booking sources.
- Knowledge of deadlines and operations needed to communicate effectively with the public.
- Knowledge of principles, theories, philosophy and techniques of marketing, promoting and advertising programs, events and facilities.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public.
- Ability to plan, assign, and supervise the work of subordinates.

Work Environment:
