The Peoria Police Department Communications Section is the lifeline between our community calling for help and our officers who respond to their calls. We answer 9-1-1 and non-emergency calls and dispatch resources using state-of-the-art technology.

We are seeking strong team players who effectively communicate, are proficient with advancing technology, and can multitask and quickly adapt to change.
About The Career
Peoria Police Communication Specialists are cross trained as call takers and radio dispatchers. They answer emergency and non-emergency calls using a multi-line telephone and 9-1-1 systems. Responsibilities include receiving, processing, and dispatching calls for service and providing information to personnel. This position requires shift work, and all employees must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays, as required. Also, lateral, full-time 911 Dispatchers have the ability to earn paid time off (up to 80 hours) based on previous experience in the same job function through our Award Leave program, if eligible.
