What are the responsibilities and job description for the Swim Instructor Aide position at City of Pflugerville?
As a Swim Instructor Aide for the City, you will be teaching various levels of the City Swim Lesson Program to participants ages 6 months and older, to ensure swimmers are learning water safety, proper swim technique, and increasing their abilities.
The City of Pflugerville is offering Swim Instructor Aides a one-time Longevity Bonus of up to $500, payable at the end of the season! We also have a referral program.
- Prepare swim lesson plans and adapt teaching approaches to the age, experience, and ability of the participants.
- Adequately cover all skills required for a given level.
- Ensure the safety of facility patrons.
- Regularly and respectfully interact with parents and/or participants to provide feedback.
- Other duties as assigned by supervision/management.
- Must be at least 14 years old by the time swim instruction begins and be able to attend Water Safety Instructor Training.
- Must possess a current American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification or be able to complete certification.
Visual and auditory sensory perception.
Excellent swimming skills to include rescue techniques.
During rescue operations or training will be required to lift, carry, pull and/or push a person, with assistance if needed.
Daytime, evening and weekend shifts possible. Holiday shifts also possible.
Exposure to large crowds, noises and extreme temperature variations possible.
Frequent sitting or standing.
Constant alert and careful viewing of the pool.
Occasional strenuous physical activity, including carrying, pulling, pushing, dragging, and holding up to 30 lbs. of furniture/equipment.
During rescue operations or training will be required to lift, carry, pull and/or push a person, with assistance if needed.
