ABOUT THIS POSITION
Approximately 50 million passengers traveled through Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport in 2024, one of the busiest airports in the country in the nation's 5th largest city. Sky Harbor is the largest of three airports in the Phoenix Airport System (Phoenix Sky Harbor, Deer Valley, and Goodyear airports) which is operated by the City of Phoenix Aviation Department and has an economic impact of $44.3 billion annually.
The City of Phoenix Aviation Department is seeking a highly motivated team member that will enjoy the high-energy environment of Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. The Airport Access Agents primary responsibility is to perform difficult and skilled specialized data entry work in support of Transportation Security Administration Security Administration (TSA) regulated aviation security operations and programs. This position is the primary contact for employees and vendors to obtain airport security badges. Additional responsibilities are for complete and accurate data entry and record keeping for security badge and credential applications, including handling applicant Personal Identifiable Information (PII), and ensuring all badging requirements are met. Customer service skills are required to handle the face-to-face transactions along with strong computer skills and the ability to multitask daily.
Essential functions include:
- Assign appropriate security access.
- Answer phone calls regarding badging inquiries and information.
- Receive, verify, and process airport security badge applications.
- Update Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) results into badging records.
- Receive and process various payments and refunds.
- Fingerprint applicants on an electronic system, verifying quality for submission.
- Process accounting transactions to ensure proper account crediting and debiting.
- Process vehicle permit applications for registered vehicles; issue vehicle permits; submit security clearances and issue credentials for drivers.
- Front counter customer service, entailing explanation of the badging requirements and assistance with documentation required.
- Enter information into and retrieve information from complex computer filing systems and databases in compliance with TSA regulations.
- Support the day-to day activities of the Public Safety & Security Badging Office, including assisting applicants in all phases of the security badging process.
- Accept and evaluate identity documents as directed by TSA/Regulatory compliance; properly handles and safeguards Personal Identifiable Information and Security Sensitive Information.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
- Knowledge of TSA access badging regulations.
- Knowledge of airport rules, regulations, and security training programs.
- Ability to remain in a sitting position for extended periods of time.
- Ability to accomplish tasks while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Ability to communicate orally with customers, clients, the public, and other employees in a face- to-face, one-on-one setting and/or telephone or email.
SALARY
Pay Range: $18.60 - $30.31 per hour.
Hiring Range: $18.60 - $26.18 per hour.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Two years of administrative/clerical support experience, including direct customer service and working with complex computer filing systems.
- Other combinations of education and experience that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:
- Experience providing excellent customer service.
- Experience using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
- Experience with money handling transactions.
- Experience with confidential record keeping and auditing.
- Experience entering and retrieving data or information into or from a terminal, PC, or other keyboard device.
