ABOUT THIS POSITION

The Planning & Development Department guides the physical development of the city by preserving our historic sites, planning what can be built where, and ensuring safe construction of buildings and infrastructure. This department acts as a host of advisory and governing bodies of residents as well as elected officials providing oversight as the city grows and needs arise. The process is governed through development and enforcement of city codes and ordinances. The Planning & Development Department currently has a vacancy for Electrical Inspector II* Ind/PR.

The Electrical Inspector II* Ind/PR assigned to Annual Facilities Program (AFP) is responsible for performing plans review functions in addition to inspection activities. This position requires the incumbent to review and evaluate electrical plans for compliance based on the requirements of the Electrical Code prior to approving issuance of a building permit. This position will meet with representatives of large facilities to discuss, inspect, and report unsafe conditions or noncompliance to code.



IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Knowledge of The National Electrical Code and associated rules, regulations, ordinances, and standards.
  • General computer skills using Microsoft Office, the internet, and data entry.



SALARY

Pay Range: $33.41 to $49.36 per hour.

Hiring Range: $33.41 to $44.77 per hour.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two years' experience as an Electrical Inspector I..
  • Three years' experience as a journey level electrician or certification as an Electrical Inspector by a Model Code agency with experience in new or remodeling work on commercial and residential electrical installations.
  • Must possess the following certification:
  • IAEI Electrical Inspector, General OR ICC Commercial Electrical Inspector
  • AND Possess (TWO) of the following certifications:
  • IAEI Electrical Inspector General OR ICC Commercial Electrical Inspector
  • AND IAEI Electrical Inspector, Plan Review OR ICC Electrical Plans Examine
  • And
  • IAEI Electrical Inspector/Plan Review OR
  • ICC Electrical Plans Examiner (E3)

Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:

  • Experience supervising electrical teams in commercial or industrial environments.
  • Electrical classes, workshops, trainings, and/or continued education.
  • Electrical Apprenticeship from an Accredited Agency.
  • ICC Commercial Electrical Inspector or IAEI Electrical Inspector General Certifications.
