Phoenix Water Services also manages the sewer collection system and treats wastewater for 2.5 million residents in metropolitan Phoenix.
The City of Phoenix Water Services Department is hiring for an Electrical Maintenance Crew Chief. This position supervises Electricians, Lead Electricians, and Electrician Apprentices who install, maintain, and repair both electrical systems and water production process control equipment. The Electrical Maintenance Crew Chief position carries a high degree of responsibility, accountability, and will challenge individuals to develop or enhance their supervisory, leadership, and communication skills. High-level problem solving with constructive input for infrastructure re-development and rehabilitation is also required. People and organizational skills are the defining elements of the position while providing leadership support throughout the Greater Phoenix Metropolitan Area.

Pay Range:$36.84 to $54.42 per hour
Hiring Range: $36.84 to $47.01 per hour.

Job Duties Include, And Are Not Limited To
- Supervising and providing daily support to all levels of Electrical staff.
- Upholding City of Phoenix and Water Services electrical safety standards.
- Supporting activities of Water Treatment Facilities and Water System Operations.
- Supporting construction activities at Water Treatment Facilities and Remote Sites for new construction and rehabilitation projects.
- Providing oversight on large-scale generator driven redundant power systems.
- Assessing and recommending equipment replacement.
- Monitoring and administering a yearly budget.
- Developing detailed estimates for electrical projects.
- Providing written updates to the Management Team.
- Utilizing asset management and purchasing systems.
Pay Range:$36.84 to $54.42 per hour
Hiring Range: $36.84 to $47.01 per hour.

Minimum Qualifications
- Three years of experience as a skilled electrician;
- AND completion of an electrical apprenticeship program.
- Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

- These positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage.

The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:
- Experience in/with:
- Electrical maintenance crew supervision.
- Trouble-shooting complex motor control circuits.
- Instrumentation and control, automation, and process control.
- Writing / reviewing Medium Voltage electrical safe work plans.
- Working at Water Treatment Plant or Remote Water Facility.
- Industrial/Commercial electrical construction and maintenance practices.
- Large generator, automatic transfer switch, and redundant power systems.
- Electrical project estimating and/or management/administration.
- National electrical code, policies, and procedures specific to the electrical trade.
- Understanding of Electrical NFPA-70E safety program and practices.
- Participation on Electrical Crew Chief Standby rotation during extreme weather conditions as required.
- Working irregular hours, second and/or third shifts, weekends, holidays, and evenings may be required.
- Working outside in a variety of environmental extremes such as heat, cold, rain, air pollution, and dust may be required.
- Working in small, cramped areas such as ceiling crawl spaces, and equipment enclosures may be required.
- Working at heights greater than ten feet may be required.
