ABOUT THIS POSITION


The Equal Opportunity Department, a regulatory agency, works to advance its mission in several areas, including small and disadvantaged business enterprises, airport concession disadvantaged enterprises; and fair housing, employment, accessibility, and public accommodations. The Equal Opportunity Department has a vacancy for an Equal Opportunity Programs Assistant in the Business Relations Division (BRD).

The Equal Opportunity Programs Assistant provides paraprofessional support to the Business Relations Division Compliance team, which enforces the City's policy to ensure that Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs), Airport Concession Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (ACDBEs), and Small Business Enterprises (SBEs) have equal opportunities to participate in contracts and subcontracts administered by the City of Phoenix. This position will be responsible for collecting information/data and compiling reports; researching and analyzing information; managing communications with internal external customers; supporting compliance staff with bid verifications and, pre-bid presentations, and goal setting; generating various reports for compliance staff; and other duties as assigned by the department.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal civil rights laws, including 49 CFR Part 26, 49 CFR, Part 23, and/or Phoenix City Code Chapter 18.
  • Critical thinking skills and ability to analyze complex information.
  • Proficient at Microsoft Office, database management, and other software applications (i.e., Excel, PowerPoint, Webex, Teams, SAP, Outlook).
  • Exceptional research skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to meticulously focus on details.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to assimilate large amounts of data and information.

SALARY


Pay Range: $31.82 to $47.01 per hour.

Hiring Range: $31.82 to $36.84 per hour.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • One year of experience in equal opportunity.
  • Bachelor's degree in political science, business administration, personnel, or law.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:

  • One year or more of experience with Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs), Airport Concession Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (ACDBE) and/or Small Business Enterprises (SBE).
  • Experience with statistical analysis and research methods.
  • Experience providing paraprofessional support to a large team.
  • Experience working with databases, including data entry and troubleshooting.
  • Experience providing high-quality customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Experience producing data reports and compiling complex information in a user-friendly manner.
