About This Position
The City of Phoenix Human Services Department (HSD) enhances the health, wellness, and quality of life for Phoenix residents by providing a comprehensive array of services to help people meet emergency, short-and long-term needs; and to help every individual reach their highest level of self-sufficiency. HSD offers a wide variety of programs for children, adults, and families at numerous locations throughout the city. The Human Services Department is seeking a Family Liaison to fill a vacancy in the Education Division.
The Family Liaison will offer information, resources, workshops, and provide agency referrals to families with children birth to five years old. Within the City of Phoenix, these sites are referred to as Phoenix Families First Resource Centers (PFFRC). These sites will offer a variety of services that will assist in targeting the needs of the varying families. Families will receive referrals for services and parenting activities. There are three main areas of engagement: Information and Resources, Referrals, and Parenting activities.
Family Liaisons are front line staff responsible for the everyday success of the PFFRC. Responsibilities include welcoming families, completing initial screening/interviews, organizing event calendar, providing information and resources to families ranging from developmental milestones to basic needs, inputting numbers into database, answering phones, and providing general clerical support. Regular work hours are Monday - Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, however, some night and weekend work may be required.
The Human Services Department currently has a temporary vacancy for a full-time Family Liaison. This assignment will be in effect through December 2027 at which time, the prior incumbent may return to the position. When this assignment ends, the temporary candidate will return to their previous position. IDEAL CANDIDATE
Pay Range: $16.07 to $27.49 per hour.
Hiring Range: $16.07 to $23.74 per hour.

Minimum Qualifications
- One year of experience working in a social service environment.
- Some college level course work in social work, sociology, social services, or a related field.
- Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted

Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage.

The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:
- Experience working with children from birth to five years old.
- Experience providing quality customer service to a diverse population.
- Experience querying and searching databases.
- Experience providing social service information and referrals.
- Experience maintaining confidential client, case, or other records or files.
- Bilingual skills in the Spanish language is desirable but not required.
