ABOUT THIS POSITION

We are seeking dedicated and friendly individuals to assist with clerical and customer service duties at the circulation desk. This is an excellent opportunity for those who enjoy working with the public and helping others access library services, all while contributing to the community's access to a cooling center during the summer months.
Key Responsibilities:
- Customer Interaction: Assist customers with checking materials in and out, including using self-checkout machines and providing support when needed.
- Data Entry & Record keeping: Accurately enter customer information and transaction details into our computer system.
- Library Card Issuance: Help customers obtain library cards, explain library policies, and verify identification.
- Cash Handling: Process payments for library charges and make deposits following established procedures.
- Assist with Materials: Inspect incoming materials for damage and help locate lost or misplaced items.
- General Desk Duties: Perform routine opening and closing tasks at the circulation desk and resolve circulation-related issues as they arise.
The heat relief program runs from May 1st through September 30th. Part-time opportunities are available at the Cholla, Harmon, and Yucca libraries. Work hours are 4:15 p.m. - 10:15 p.m., five days a week, including weekends and holidays.

IDEAL CANDIDATE
- Possesses strong customer service skills with a friendly, positive attitude, ensuring a welcoming experience for all patrons.
- Has basic computer skills and is proficient in using a keyboard, scanner, and circulation software to perform tasks efficiently.
- Understands the importance of maintaining confidentiality and is capable of handling sensitive customer information with discretion.

- Is a collaborative team player who values community engagement and is dedicated to providing excellent service to library patrons.
- Is a self-starter, eager to learn new tasks, and comfortable working with minimal supervision while maintaining high-quality standards.

SALARY
Pay Range: $16.88 - $23.74 per hour
Hiring Range: $16.88 - $19.54 per hour

- Hiring range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, training, and internal equity.
BENEFITS
Part-time employees are eligible for earned paid sick time, city training, and free or discounted bus and light rail fares.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- One year of library clerical experience.
- AND One year general clerical experience, including experience serving the public and demonstrated typing skills.
- OR One year experience at the level of Library Clerk I.
- Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

Working Conditions Require:
- Availability for the full duration of the summer position, May 1 through September 30, with no more than 5 business days requested for vacation.
- Working irregular hours, weekends, and holidays spanning approximately 22 weeks.
- Remaining in a sitting position for extended periods of time, from one continuous hour up to four total hours at a time per day, while performing a variety of tasks.
- Performing repetitive hand, arm, and body movements.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:
- Experience with:
- Customer Service
- Cash handling.
- Working in a library.
- Windows-based PC/software, mobile devices, eBooks, and eMedia.
- Spanish proficiency is desired, though not required.
