ABOUT THIS POSITION


Phoenix Public Library (PPL) serves a diverse multi-ethnic clientele of over 4.8 million people, with a central library and 16 branches. The library offers collections in multiple languages, a full range of cutting-edge electronic resources, and customer-focused public services. The PPL is looking for a Library Circulation Attendant III to supervise circulation activities of the major Ironwood library branch located at 4333 E. Chandler Blvd, Phoenix, AZ 85048.
Supervision is exercised over Library Circulation Attendants I and II engaged in varied clerical duties such as.
  • Assisting library users in obtaining library cards,
  • Paying library charges.
  • Checking materials in and out of the library.
Responsibility for the full range of supervisory duties differentiates this class from Library Circulation Attendant II. General supervision is received from the library branch supervisor, a Librarian III or IV.

The ideal candidate must be able to multi-task, resolve problems and work with a diverse customer base in a fast-paced environment.

SALARY


Pay Range: $21.54 to $40.61 per hour.

Hiring Range: $21.54 to $26.18 per hour.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Three years of library clerical experience.
  • Including one year of experience at a circulation desk with limited supervisory responsibilities (one year at the level of Library Circulation Attendant II).
  • Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:

  • Bilingual - Spanish
  • Experience with:
    • Working with an Integrated Library System (ILS).
    • Developing and maintaining SOP and other polices.
    • Analyzing statistics.
    • Planning and executing special events.
    • Supervising staff in a professional environment and training staff on policy and procedures.
    • Storyboarding, filming and editing promotional and instructional videos.
    • Serving as a liaison/representative of an organization.
    • Developing and implementing marketing strategies including collateral for print, web, and social media content and platforms.
    • Administering Public Information function including developing messages for multiple audiences and handling media requests.
