ABOUT THIS POSITION
The Parks and Recreation Department provides residents and visitors with more than 41,000 acres of desert parks and mountain preserve land with more than 200 miles of trails; 187 parks; 33 community and recreation centers; eight golf courses; 29 pools; and classes, programs, and sports leagues. The Parks and Recreation Department also develops and maintains new parks, park amenities and facilities with funding from a variety of sources.
The City of Phoenix Park Manager position is responsible for managing maintenance and recreation functions at a district park or regional facility. This position may supervise Recreation Coordinator II, Parks Foremen 1, Maintenance (Parks) and Recreation positions. Duties include managing urban parks, recreation outreach, programs, and classes; performing inspections to ensure proper staffing, care and maintenance of property; overseeing the service and repair of public property, working with Police and Fire Departments to plan approaches on reducing criminal behavior in parks, coordinating rescues/emergency situations. This position will work with media, individual residents, community groups on matters of civic and park recreational interest.
SALARY
Pay Range: $55,806.40 - $105,248.00 annually.
Hiring Range: $ $55,806.40 - $78,540.80 annually

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Three years of supervisory experience in skilled parks maintenance.
- Two years as a second line supervisory/foreman level.
- OR three years of full-time professional experience in recreation in one or more areas of specialization.
- Bachelor's degree in recreation, leisure studies, outdoor recreation, or other activity applicable to the designated specialty.
- Other combinations of experience and education which meet the minimum qualifications may be substituted.

Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:
- Experience in landscape, turf and horticulture management.
- Experience in facility maintenance management.
- Experience in contract agreements and tenant management.
- Experience in procurement and SAP.
- Experience in neighborhood, community, and volunteer management.
- Playground Safety or Arborist certification.
- Experience in park construction and capital improvement projects.
- Experience in special events, special activity requests, and management.
