Hiring Range: $64,604 to $86,590 annually.

The Aviation Department has a vacancy for a Public Information Specialist. The primary responsibilities of this position include:
- Respond to social media inquiries across all networks from 5 p.m. - 12 a.m.
- Respond to inquiries from members of the media from 5 p.m. - 12 a.m.
- Respond to emails through Zen Desk and the Sky Harbor general mailbox from the public from 5 p.m. - 12 a.m.
- Compile weekly social media data (comments, questions, complaints, and compliments) into a spreadsheet.
- Compile monthly social media data and Zen Desk reports for Deputy Aviation Director.
- Manage calendar of upcoming events for Aviation Department intranet and phoenix.gov.
- Assist public information team with web updates for skyharbor.com, deervalleyairport.com and goodyearairport.com.
- Assist with copywriting and copyediting articles, news releases, etc. as assigned.
- Recap significant social media trends, noteworthy mentions, etc. at end of shift as necessary.
- Assist with developing social media content and creating monthly social media calendars for Aviation Department channels.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
- Knowledge of various journalistic styles.
- Strong writing and proofreading skills include writing for social media and websites.
- Ability to successfully use Microsoft Office products, including Work, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Pay Range: $64,604 to $95,451 annually.
Hiring Range: $64,604 to $86,590 annually.

Minimum Qualifications
- Three years of experience in journalism, mass media communications, or public relations.
- Bachelor's degree in journalism, mass media communications, public relations, advertising, marketing or a related field.
- Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:
- Experience with crisis communications.
- Experience working with or speaking to media.
- Experience capturing social media analytics.
- Experience expediting effective and accurate communications and disseminating the information appropriately.
- Experience with writing, producing, and editing videos (web videos, training videos, PSAs, and promotional videos).
- Experience in creating content for multiple platforms including, Meta (Facebook), Twitter, Instagram, magazines, newsletters etc.
