Solid Waste Landfill Superintendent - Public Works

The City of Phoenix Public Works Department is looking for a Solid Waste Landfill Superintendent for the Solid Waste Diversion and Disposal Division (SW3D). The SW3D is responsible for the post-collection processing of over one-million tons of refuse, green organics and recycling. SW3D has one open landfill, five closed landfills, two transfer stations, two material recovery facilities and one compost facility.

The Solid Waste Landfill Superintendent will perform advanced supervisory and administrative work within the SW3D Division. This position will oversee operations of the City's SR 85 Landfill located in the City of Buckeye. Direct supervision is exercised over the classifications of Solid Waste Foreman and other supervisory, technical and support staff.

The Solid Waste Landfill Superintendent develops work programs with considerable independence and is responsible for achieving desired results. The landfill operation is subject to critical inspection by health and sanitary authorities of independent governmental jurisdiction. Work is performed under the general supervision of a Solid Waste Administrator or higher.

Pay Range: $90,916.80 to $134,326.40 annually.

Hiring Range: $90,916.80 to $105,248.00 annually.

• Three years of supervisory and administrative experience in a large solid waste collection, disposal, or regulatory enforcement operation.
• AND Associate's degree in public or environmental health, business or public administration, or a related field.
