About This Position
The Street Transportation Department has a vacancy for a Vertical Project Manager position. The Vertical Project Management Section (VPM) in the Office of the City Engineer in the Streets Department is responsible for managing Capital Improvement Projects (CIP). This role handles all aspects of the project lifecycle, from planning and design to construction and project completion. The VPM Project Manager position is responsible for overseeing the execution and delivery of multidiscipline CIP projects within the city.
The Vertical Project Manager position requires strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with different stakeholders and teams. The candidate should have a solid understanding of the project management processes, tools and best practices, and be able to align the project objectives with the strategic goals of the city. This position requires strong project management skills including and not limited to contract negotiation, oversight of the design and construction activities, budget development, and construction compliance. Work is performed under the general supervision of an Engineering Manager.

Pay Range: $69,492.80 to $131,040.00 annually.
Hiring Range: $69,492.80 to $97,780.80 annually.

Minimum Qualifications
- Four years of responsible experience in urban development, redevelopment, business assistance, capital improvement, design and/or construction projects at a level which required supervision or participation in the planning and programming processes.
- Bachelor's degree in public or business administration, urban planning, architecture, engineering, construction management, economics, or a related field.
- Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

- Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. - Project management and municipal experience.
- Experience with contract negotiations.
- Experience in monitoring and administering design and construction contracts.
- Experience in planning, managing, overseeing, coordinating, and implementing design and construction projects.
- Experience in performing project-related reviews/inspections and finding resolutions to issues (during the design and construction phase).
