About This Position
The City of Phoenix Arts and Culture Department champions promotes and supports the City's arts and culture community to make Phoenix a great place to live, work, and visit. The department manages an award-winning public art program, granting funds to artists and nonprofit arts organizations. The department also oversees a dozen cultural facilities, promotes arts learning for youth, provides professional development opportunities for arts administrators and individual artists; participates in national studies and research that make a strong case for the arts and demonstrates their economic, social, practical, and educational benefits.
The Arts and Culture Department is currently seeking a full-time Volunteer Program Specialist to support the daily operation of S'edav Va'aki Museum. In this role you will have the primary responsibility for the Museum's Volunteer Program which includes interviewing, on-boarding, training, tracking, supervising and handling formal recognition activities. Other duties include visitor services assignments such as staffing the front desk. When a new assignment is given, you will be given detailed instructions, however, you will be expected to exercise independent judgment in the completion of assigned tasks. You will report to the Museum Administrator.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
Pay Range: $19.54 to $33.41 per hour.
Hiring Range: $19.54 to $21.54 per hour.

- Knowledge of volunteer on-boarding procedures.
- Knowledge of best practices for volunteer supervision and recognition.

Minimum Qualifications
- One year of experience in archaeological or museum work.
- College course work in archaeology, anthropology or a related field.
- Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

- All finalists for positions are subject to a criminal background check applicable to the department or position.
- Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage.

The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:
- A college degree in anthropology, history, or a related field.
- Experience directly supervising and managing volunteers and interns.
- Excellent customer service and cash handling experience.
- Experience coordinating educational events such as lecture series, conferences, workshops.
