About This Position
The Youth and Education Office is currently seeking a highly motivated and outgoing individual who has experience working in educational programs from Birth to College and Career. There is currently one vacancy in the Youth and Education Office that will assist with the Experience Corps Tutoring Program, Family Resource Centers, and other educational programs and initiatives.
While the City of Phoenix does not deliver K-12 education services, the support it provides to students and families can make the difference between academic failure and success. These positions provide support to the Youth and Education Office in the City Manager's Office. The ideal candidate will possess excellent customer services skills, work well in a team atmosphere, manage projects effectively, and be willing to learn about multiple services within the city departments, school districts, and business partners.
AARP Experience Corps in partnership with the City of Phoenix, is an intergenerational volunteer-based tutoring program (ECPhx) that is proven to help children who are not reading at grade level become great readers by the end of third grade. The program model is Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) approved literacy intervention strategy with measurable benefits for students, as well as positive mental and physical health benefits for volunteers who participate. These positions will support the overall program and mission of the Youth and Education Office in the City Manager's Office.
Youth and Education Outreach Support Coordinator(s) perform work in a lead capacity over volunteers and act as a site leader in schools where educational programs are being implemented. This position is responsible for providing various educational activities in multiple schools. This includes management and coverage of programs as required and to ensure safety of all participants. The worked performed in this role will require the incumbent to travel and work fully onsite.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
$19.07/hourly.

IDEAL CANDIDATE
- Will have the ability to provide customer service, implement and lead volunteer outreach and recruitment activities, lead tutoring activities, observe tutoring sessions, create and reconcile reports, and plan educational enrichment programs.
- Candidates will be available Monday thru Friday 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Staff are required to attend monthly evening or weekend staff trainings and special events.
$19.07/hourly.

Minimum Qualifications
- Sixty (60) semester hours of college work, and one year of related experience.
- OR Bachelor's degree and one year of teaching experience or related field.
- Other combinations of experience and education which meet the minimum qualifications may be substituted.

- Candidates who receive a conditional offer of employment must be fingerprinted and will have their fingerprints used to check the Criminal History Records of the State of Arizona Department of Public Safety and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. - Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage.

The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:
- Working in educational type programs.
- Providing presentations to the community.
- Working independently at program sites.
- Proficient in Word, Excel, Power Point, and Publisher.
- Working with diverse populations.
- Ability to learn specialized computer software databases such as Salesforce, Apricot, etc.
- Bilingual preferred.
