GENERAL DESCRIPTION : Under the direct supervision of the Parks and Recreation Director, assists with the coordination and scheduling of parks and recreation programs, activities, facility use, and special events as well as assists in the efficient office operations of the Parks and Recreation Department.
General Duties
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION : For purposes of 42 USC 12101 :
55% (1) Assists in the development, design and coordination of production and distribution of City print publications; working creatively within budget constraints to develop, design, research, write and coordinate the production and distribution of City's internal and external marketing materials and publications including but not limited to brochures, flyers, postcards, programs, signs, and certificates; maintaining City website postings and updates. Assists in the planning, organizing, and production of special events for the community and internal City Hall events including : planning event themes, entertainment, decorations, refreshments, and / or prizes; identifying and scheduling prospective vendors and facilities; purchasing needed items such as supplies, decorations, prizes and assisting with facility set-up and tear-down; hosting select events; greeting guests, taking photographs, serving refreshments; serving as liaison to community groups and organizations. Performs general office work such as word processing paperwork and program registrations, filing, scheduling appointments, maintaining records, preparing reports, and greeting visitors, answering questions by phone, email and in person, providing general department and program-specific information. Prepares financial reports. Verifies receipt of goods, and submits invoice to directors for payment authorization. Proofreads a variety of documents (Parks and Recreation Program Guide, Community Pool material, etc.).
40% (2) Assists in the planning and coordination of parks and recreation programs, classes and activities; plans programs for community participation; coordinates with program instructors for fees, schedules, locations and invoices; enrolls individuals in programs, classes and activities; processes fees and issues receipts for programs and facilities rentals; tracks program success rates, patron feedback and suggestion data.
3) Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.

5% (4) Performs other job related duties as necessary.

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS : An example of acceptable qualifications :
Completion of a high school diploma or equivalent (e.g. GED), and one (1) year paid work experience in marketing, public relations, recreation, physical education, cultural arts, event planning, sports management, or similar field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and / or experience. Preferred qualifications : Associate or Bachelor degree in recreation management, sports management, public relations, or similar discipline.
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS :
Must possess and maintain a valid Ohio driver's license, and must maintain insurability under the City's vehicle insurance policy. Must be CPR / AED and First Aid certified.
