JOB DESCRIPTION:
Under general supervision, performs work of moderate difficulty in the maintenance and repair of public safety vehicles, automotive and heavy equipment vehicles, and other City equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Requires High School Diploma or GED and the equivalent of completion of a recognized training program in heavy equipment maintenance and repair and four (4) years' experience providing maintenance and repairs on public safety equipment.
- Requires a valid Florida CDL Class A driver license, with air brakes endorsement.
- Must be A.S.E. certified in all areas of automotive and heavy trucks, including certification in air conditioning recovery any repair.
- Work involves repetitive work of a mechanical nature with regular occurrences of bending, stooping, and standing and of the need to move and lift heavy objects.
- Work involves both inside and outside conditions, frequent exposure to heat, cold, adverse weather, greases, oils, solvents, fumes, noise, chemicals and work in and around moving vehicles.
