Assists in all aspects of operations for the City of Pittsburgh Farmers’ Markets. Establishes positive relationships with vendors and farms to ensure quality products for the summer Farmers’ Markets. Represents the Department of Parks and Recreation on site at various market locations to ensure efficient vendor load in and load out, market operation, and positive experience for patrons.

- A current, valid Class C Pennsylvania Motor Vehicle Operator's License at the time of filing application or prior to appointment, which must be maintained throughout employment. Qualifying Requirements:Your City of Pittsburgh application will be reviewed, and your work experience and education/training will be evaluated to determine if you meet the qualifying eligibility requirements listed below for this position. - WORK EXPERIENCE: The application must clearly show one (1) year of full-time experience in customer service, hospitality, retail, retail management, or related experience. Experience managing or operating Farmers' Markets is preferred. (Less than full-time experience will be calculated on a pro-rated basis.)
- EDUCATION/TRAINING: High school diploma or GED.
- EQUIVALENCY: None permitted.

Position Duties:
- Arrives on time (at least one hour prior to opening), prepares market site, and provides set-up guidance and assistance to vendors.
Sets up and maintains market information table with appropriate marketing supplies.
Ensures the markets open and close on time and remains on site until all vendors vacate the site.
Enforces the market rules and food safety standards.
Resolves any vendor/customer conflicts, issues, etc. in a professional manner.
Completes daily market information sheets, including estimated customer count, open and close time, market notes, weather factors, farmers/vendors no shows, any identified issues or conflicts, etc.
Develops and maintains a positive relationship with vendors/customers.
Develops an understanding of the community in which markets reside, such as how community functions, how markets can be tailored to better serve a specific community.
Organizes records, and complies with all federal, state, and local regulations.
Commits to the market and believes in the value of local and fresh food.
Performs other duties as requested or required.
