- A current, valid Commercial Class B driver’s license with the “L” airbrake restriction lifted is required at the time of submitting application and must be maintained throughout employment. If you do not attach a copy of your current valid Class A or B CDL your application will be disqualified.

Qualifying Requirements:
Your City of Pittsburgh application will be reviewed and your work experience and education/training will be evaluated to determine if you meet the qualifying eligibility requirements listed below for this position. You will be sent an eligibility letter regarding your eligible/ineligible status.
WORK EXPERIENCE: The application must clearly show one (1) year of full time experience in refuse/recycling.(Less than full-time experience will be calculated on a pro-rated basis).
EDUCATION/TRAINING: The application must clearly show a high school diploma or equivalent.
EQUIVALENCY: None permitted for this position. Therefore, no education/training and/or work experience may be substituted toward the qualifying requirements listed above.

- Coordinates the operations of a City vehicle pool (e.g., refuse trucks, cars, and vans, etc.) in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Performs visual inspections of trucks, cars and vans for preventive maintenance and vehicle safety.
- Checks oil and other vehicle fluids.
- Assists with the daily inspection of refuse trucks.
- Provides inspection training and assists with administration of the driver training program.
- Assures proper types of vehicles are available and serviced as necessary.
- Certifies eligibility of employee’s use of pool vehicles (i.e., valid driver’s license and permission of department head).
- Monitors the status of vehicles out for repair or inspection at the City garage.
- Maintains, inputs and retrieves records, both manually and by automated methods, and prepares accurate reports, correspondence, etc.
- Drives City vehicles.
- Washes and cleans vehicles.
- Ability to operate all Environmental Services vehicles.
- May work evenings and weekends.
- Performs activities and functions of related personnel and other related tasks/duties as assigned or required.
