The Digital Equity Ambassador role focuses on bridging the digital divide and promoting digital equity by providing individualized or small group support to community members. This grant funded internship involves assessing clients' access to technology and internet services, setting digital inclusion goals, and offering assistance in achieving those goals through various communication methods. Digital Equity intern will work primarily one-on-one with clients but may also conduct small group training sessions as needed. A primary focus will be connecting and engaging with non-English speaking residents. Bilingual candidates highly encouraged.

Education and Experience
This is an office-based job in a dynamic municipal building with normal to heavy foot traffic. While performing the duties of the Digital Equity Ambassador, the incumbent is required to: interact and communicate frequently with the public, government officials, other staff members and boards, and/or third parties transacting business with the City; the position requires good vision to prepare reports and good hearing for telephone and in-person communication.
Physical Requirements
The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. This position requires frequent computer use. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
HOURS
19 hours per week
SALARY
Starting rate $17.46 – $18.62 per hour
Annual increases up to $22.69 an hour

Responsibilities
- Host presentations/webinars on digital inclusion topics for organizations and their clients.
- Provide individualized or small group assistance regarding affordable or free connectivity services information, devices, and foundational digital skills.

- Create resources guides (videos, handouts, etc.) for digital learners.
- Contribute to general project planning, monitoring, reporting, and team collaboration.
- Expected to travel to various locations to provide services for different populations of people.
- Keep project team updated on digital equity best practices and strategies.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One to two years’ related experience and/or training.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Lived experience of the digital divide.
- Experience teaching with adult and youth learner.
- Fluency in spoken and written English. Spoken and written fluency in another language other than English, as many of our community members speak Spanish, Portuguese, French, Haitian/Creole, Italian, is preferred.
- Basic computer job skills including logging on to systems, ability to communicate by email, ability to compose documents, enter database information, create presentations and download forms.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Comfortable with technology and digital communication tools including text, voice, email, and video conferencing.
- Ability and desire to learn and teach basic technological concepts related to internet services, computer and device characteristics, online services, and applications.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills; Ability to understand, communicate with, and effectively interact with people across cultures/ cultural competency.
- Ability to build trust with residents.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Patience, compassion, and supportiveness.
- Creative problem solver, able to handle stressful situations positively in approachable and professional manner.
