JOB TITLE: SEASONAL LABORER
DEPARTMENT: PARKS, TRAFFIC, WATER/SEWER, WASTEWATER, HIGHWAY, GARAGE
EMPLOYMENT TYPE: FULL TIME SEASONAL/NON-EXEMPT
UNION/NON-UNION: NON-UNION
The City of Pittsfield is seeking Seasonal Laborers for several City departments. The responsibilities may include but are not limited to: cleaning and other janitorial duties, maintenance and care of City-owned buildings and property. Operate equipment such as, mowers, blowers, chippers, compacters, weed whackers, pavement/ground breakers, drills, saws and hand tools.

Qualifications
The incumbent works in various dynamic municipal buildings and locations. While performing the duties of Seasonal Laborer the incumbent is required to: interact and communicate frequently with the public, government officials, other staff members and boards, and/or third parties transacting business with the City. Frequent periods of outside work may be entailed, subject to all weather conditions and extremes.
Physical Requirements
Ability and agility to climb ladders and physical labor such as digging holes, walk long distances over uneven terrain; lift fifty (50) pounds from the ground level to chest height in standing position; and work outdoors in all weather.
HOURS
40 hours per week.
7:00am – 3:30pm, M-F
SALARY
Starting rate $17.46 - $18.62 per hour
Annual increases up to $22.69 per hour

Qualifications
- Valid Class D driver’s license preferred
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Ability to handle and operate tools and equipment as required
- Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to deal efficiently and effectively with the public and other employees.
