Duties
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.
Under the immediate direction of the Pool Manager or Assistant Pool Manager, ensures safety of pool patrons through accident prevention, first aid, and water rescue techniques; maintains a constant vigil over patrons in an assigned area; rescues persons in distress; maintains discipline and orderly conduct among patrons and enforces all pertinent pool rules and regulations; maintains skills at test-ready levels; renders first aid; assists Swim Instructors with classes; organizes equipment; assists with skill practice; provides skill correction and feedback; maintains records and reports as needed; performs pool maintenance functions; and performs related work as required.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and skills is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and skills is:
Certificates: American Red Cross Lifeguard Training/First Aid; CPR/AED for Lifeguards, Administering Emergency Oxygen, and First Aid for Public Safety Personnel (or other Title 22 equivalent) required.
Education/Experience: Must be at least 15 years of age; completion of freshman year of high school, and two seasons as a participant in an aquatics program.
Skill and Knowledge: Swimming proficiency and endurance; working with people of all ages; performing current swimming rescue, first aid and CPR techniques; providing positive and corrective feedback; customer service skills; excellent verbal communication skills; preparing reports; following oral and written instructions; working cooperatively with others; being neat, orderly and honest; interpreting policies and procedures.

This is a Part-Time/Seasonal position. Seasonal, Memorial Day through Labor Day, additional spring and fall employment possible.
