The City of Plano is looking for innovative and knowledgeable people to join our team as an Automotive Technician in the Fleet Services Department. As an Automotive Technician, you will keep our City's fleet vehicles on the road by maintaining and repairing City vehicles.

Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent. Completion of a technical or trade school program in automotive and heavy truck technology.
Experience: Three (3) years of experience in the repair and service of automobiles, light, medium, and heavy duty trucks, and construction equipment with on-board computer components.
Any work related experience resulting in acceptable proficiency levels in the above Minimum Qualifications is an acceptable substitute for the above specified education and experience requirements
Licenses and Certifications: Must be able to obtain, and maintain in active status, a Class A-CDL or a Class B-CDL within twelve months of hire date. Must be able to obtain a Texas Department of Public Safety Inspection Certification within six (6) months of assignment to position. Must obtain within one year of assignment to position, and maintain in active status, a minimum of two (2) ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certifications. Additional certifications may be required depending on area of assignment.
