What are the responsibilities and job description for the PROGRAM SUPERVISOR-SUMMER position at City of Plantation?
This is a non-exempt position, which is responsible supervisory work providing leadership and coordination of programs and activities designed for children participating in the City's Summer Recreation Camp Program. Exercises initiative and independent judgment in accomplishing tasks. Work is performed under the direction of the Facilities Manager.
Employees are hired as AT WILL employees that serve at the pleasure of the City and may be terminated at any time with or without cause.Coordinates programs and activities designed for the overall safety, care and enrichment of children participating in the City's Summer Recreation Camp.
Coordinates, monitors and participates in all events and activities (i.e., weekly special events, field trips, games, sports, individual and group activities, 4th of July programs, etc.).
Performs routine clerical tasks such as the maintenance of attendance records, and recording of accidents and injuries. Executes purchase orders authorized by the department director.
Supervise and coordinate the work of Counselors, Junior Counselors and Counselors in Training assigned to the Camp Site.
Completes staff schedules for those assigned to the camp sites.
Maintain discipline and encourages compliance with safety rules and regulations.
Display leadership ability in planning and directing recreational activities.
Instructs and/or assists Counselors in implementing activities and in supervising children.
Demonstrates strong communication skills between staff, supervisors and parents of children enrolled in camp.
Perform related work as required and as directed.
Knowledge of principles, rules and basic fundamentals of recreation programs.
Knowledge of effective supervisory methods and techniques.
Knowledge of first aid and the ability to provide first aid to injured patron.
Ability to provide leadership and direction during a variety of recreation activities.
Ability to supervise in a manner conducive to full performance and high morale.
Ability to maintain attendance and emergency information for participants at Camp Site.
Ability to maintain discipline and encourages compliance with safety rules and regulations.
Ability to work effectively with participants, staff, parents and volunteers in a personal, cooperative manner.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Bachelor's degree or any equivalent combination of education, experience and training may be considered.
LiveScan Fingerprint Process
Incumbents in this job class are required to undergo a Level 2 Background Screening as required by the State of Florida. The screening includes a photograph, fingerprint-based searches of criminal records nationally, and is performed using the electronic LiveScan process.
