What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance - Utility position at CITY OF PLEASANTON?
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Installs water mains, taps, hydrants, valves
- Works on main breaks and service leaks
- Installs sewer mains, taps, and manhole
- Works on sewer main breaks, operates rooter machine for sewer backups
- Works on pumps and motors, climbs ground and storage at water plants
- Reads meters and disconnect, reconnects turn off list when needed
- Operates light and heavy equipment, back hoe, front end loader, 6 cubic yard dump truck
- Stocks vehicle with necessary equipment and material
- Cleans, organizes, and maintains facilities, tools, and equipment
- Set up of work zone for traffic control. Promotes and practices a safe working environment
- Performs other duties as assigned

JOB DIMENSIONS
- Organizing tools for utility construction
- Organizing pipe for water and sewer main installation and repairs
- Organizing material for manhole and storm drain box’s installation and repairs
- Maintain inventory level on maintenance vehicle
- Contact with customer and contractor to resolve water quality complaints
- Required to work hours other than regular schedule such as days, nights, weekends, holidays, on-call, and rotation shifts
PHYSICAL DEMMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
- Physical requirements include lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Subject to standing, sitting, walking, climbing, bending, crawling, squatting, kneeling and working in cramped and strained positions for long periods of time to perform job scope
- Working conditions are primarily outside with frequent exposure to inclement weather; water/wastewater; mechanical, electrical, chemical and confined space hazards; offensive fumes; excessive noise; and animals, snakes and poisonous insects
- Required to comply with requirements for personal protective equipment
- Operates a company vehicle daily
