What are the responsibilities and job description for the Yard Waste Site Attendant position at City of Plymouth, MN?
Description
Perform a wide variety of tasks involving the operation of the Yard Waste Site. This position runs from April through November and includes fluctuating evening and weekend hours depending on month of the year and staffing levels needed. Hours per week for this position is typically 20-30 hours.
Essential Functions
Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers
- Interact with others in a manner that is professional and inspires open communication
- Help to create and maintain a respectful workplace culture and champions equity and inclusion
- Interact in a customer friendly manner with Yard Waste Site users, providing guidance and instructions to users
- Verify customers of the yard waste site are residents of Plymouth, Long Lake, Medicine Lake or Wayzata.
Use iPad to document Yard Waste Site use, maintaining accurate records of Yard Waste Site usage.
Perform inspection of incoming material to Yard Waste Site.
- Visually monitor incoming materials being disposed of to ensure that only yard waste is being received and that foreign items are not co-mingled.
Maintain a clean, organized, safe and welcoming Yard Waste Site.
- Direct users to appropriate location to dispose of materials.
- Notify supervisor if piles need to get pushed back at the beginning and end of each shift.
- Safety is a high priority, verify that the site is free of hazards for customers.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
- Relevant experience related to construction or maintenance.
- Must be able to foresee and prevent safety problems.

Physical Activities

The employee must be able to frequently lift items from 0 – 24 pounds from 0 – 6 feet and occasionally lift items up to 50 pounds. The employee must be able to frequently carry items from 0 – 24 pounds form 0 – 100 feet and occasionally carry items up to 50 pounds. Items lifted/carried include tools, ladders, buckets, branches, logs.
Job Requirements
Working outdoors (must have physical strength sufficient to perform strenuous labor tasks under varying weather conditions, including inclement weather and extreme temperatures), working indoors, driving city vehicle or personal vehicle.
