This position will work within the police department, requiring the ability to work in a secure, fast-paced environment where discretion, professionalism, and attention to detail are essential. You will also be working in an environment where weapons and other sensitive law enforcement equipment are present.

Please note that this position requires successfully completing a comprehensive background investigation conducted by the Pomona Police Department.

This position requires standby and call-back availability for work outside regular hours, including overtime, weekends, evenings, and holidays, to meet the City's operational needs. Standby pay is two (2) hours of regular pay on scheduled workdays and three (3) hours on non-scheduled days or holidays. Call-back pay provides one (1) additional hour of straight-time pay plus overtime per the applicable MOU for unscheduled returns to work.

Minimum Qualifications:
Any combination equivalent to experience and training that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may qualify. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be:
 
Education
High school diploma or GED equivalency. A Bachelor of Science is preferred.

Experience:
Two years of increasingly responsible experience in Information Technology hardware and software support.
 
License or Certificate:
Possession of a valid driver's license.
Below are the main duties of the Systems Technician
  • Receives requests for assistance on desktop and computer-related problems, including software, hardware, printer, peripheral and related equipment; determines the severity of problem and resolves or refers to appropriate staff or vendors. Installs, configures, tests, and repairs hardware, including computer workstations, printers, and other peripheral equipment such as laptops, tablets, and mobile devices. 
  • Assists in determining the need for new equipment; participates in the planning, implementation, and installation of new desktop computer units or peripherals; performs server maintenance; and resolves network and communication problems. 
  • Assists users in optimizing their desktop environment; provides desktop training; assists in restoring or recovering files or corrupted data.
  • Responsible for onboarding new colleagues through creating Active Directory, Exchange accounts, and various applications and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems; responsible for separations and deleting profiles; and backing up user profiles and mailboxes.
  • Responsible for all related adds, moves, and changes to user accounts, non-user accounts, distribution groups, and security groups in Active Directory.
  • Monitors console and systems for errors or abnormal situations, responds to error messages, resolves issues, or refers to appropriate staff members. 
  • Perform basic Mitel PBX programming, configuration, and installations; maintain City phone directory and voicemail.
  • General Audio/Video (AV) support for public virtual and in-person public meetings and presentations.
  • Administer, maintain, and support Police Department video surveillance, workstations mobile units, servers, and inventory. Support Police Department and outside agency applications.
  • Prepare clear, concise, and accurate program documentation, reports of work performed, and other written materials. 
  • Configuration and deployment of system images to IT environments.
  • Manages Microsoft updates through the use of Microsoft Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) to ensure appropriate patches are installed on clients. 
  • Manage and monitor security threats through the use of the anti-virus console.

Pursuant to California Government Code Section 3100, all public employees are required to serve as disaster service workers subject to such disaster service activities as may be assigned to them by their supervisors or by law.

Salary : $65,628 - $79,788
