Description
Plans, organizes and leads a wide range of activities for the summer camp program. Possesses professional and technical knowledge in the field of school-aged children in order to effectively lead and direct summer camp activities. Duties include but are not limited to overseeing the participation of organized games, encourage proper skill development and safety, general oversight of campers and planning and implementing indoor and outdoor activities such as weekly themes, arts and crafts, character building, social skills, health and wellness, field trips, and service learning projects. Supervises summer camp activities and works cooperatively with other staff members. Performs related work as required.
Typical Qualifications
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Teaching Certificate or Bachelor's degree in Recreation or closely related field required
- Two (2) years of experience working or volunteering with school-aged children in a recreational setting
- Must pass a FDLE Level 2 Criminal Background check and fingerprinting
- Knowledge of both the basic philosophy of school-aged education in individual behavior and group behavior
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with school-aged children
- Submit a thoroughly completed application for employment. Apply as soon as possible as selections may be made well before the program begins.
- Must be able to attend a program orientation prior to the start of the program.
Supplemental Information
Work Days / Hours : Monday - Friday, 35 to 40 hours per week.
Hours may vary between 7 : 30 a.m. - 6 : 00 p.m.
