What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Camp Instructor I #2025-PT07 position at City of Pompano Beach?
Monitors and participates in a wide variety of recreation activities for the summer camp programs. This includes overseeing the participation of organized games, encourage proper skill development and safety, ensuring effective check in and check out procedures, general oversight of campers and planning and implementing indoor and outdoor activities such as weekly themes, arts and crafts, character building, social skills, health and wellness, field trips, and service learning projects. All City Camp staff members must possess experience, maturity, enthusiasm, a love for children and a strong desire to be a positive role model. We work hard to ensure a safe and protected environment where all campers can grow, learn and explore. Performs related work as required.
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Graduation from an accredited high school
- 1 year of fulltime or (2) seasons of experience involving recreation programs or volunteering in a recreational or school setting preferred.
- Work experience can be substituted with three (3) years or 72 credit hours from an accredited college or university with a declared major in recreation or a closely related field.
- Certified teachers and coaches will meet the minimum requirements.
- Must pass a FDLE Level 2 Criminal Background check and fingerprinting
- Submit a thoroughly completed application for employment. Apply as soon as possible as selections may be made well before the program begins.
- Must be able to attend a program orientation prior to the start of the program.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
Hours may vary between 7:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
