JOB SUMMARY
This part-time position is responsible for maintaining and preparing athletic field and facilities for games and practices.
MAJOR DUTIES
- Assists with concessions.
- Prepares gymnasiums for events including practices and games.
- Sweeps and mops floors.
- Cleans tumbling room.
- Prepares athletic fields for events including practices and games.
- Drags fields.
- Paints fields for play.
- Cleans bleachers and dug-outs
- Blows leaves from sidewalks.
- Collects trash.
- Maintains recreation facility grounds and buildings.
- Maintains and restocks restroom facilities.
- Supervises the use of facilities
- Enforces policies and procedures.
- Maintains work-related tools and equipment. Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION
- Knowledge of facilities maintenance principles.
- Knowledge of athletic field maintenance principles.
- Knowledge of equipment operation repair and maintenance principles.
- Knowledge of custodial maintenance principles.
- Skill in the analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions.
- Skill in the operation of job-related tools and equipment. Skill in oral and written communication.
SUPERVISORY CONTROLS
The Parks & Recreation Director assigns work in terms of somewhat general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with instructions and established procedures accuracy and the nature and propriety of the final results.
GUIDELINES
Guidelines include equipment operation and maintenance principles and department and city policies and procedures. These guidelines are generally clear and specific but may require some interpretation in application.
COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK
The work consists of related maintenance duties. Inclement weather contributes to the complexity of the position. The purpose of this position is to maintain and prepare gymnasiums and sports fields for practice and games. Success in this position contributes to safe and well maintained facilities.
CONTACTS
Contacts are typically with co-workers other city employees vendors and members of the general public. Contacts are typically to provide services to give or exchange information or to resolve problems.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work is typically performed while intermittently sitting standing stooping walking bending crouching or stooping. The employee frequently lifts light and occasionally heavy objects climbs ladders and uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity. The work is typically performed outdoors occasionally in cold or inclement weather. The employee may be exposed to noise dust dirt grease machinery with moving parts and irritating chemicals. Work requires the use of protective devices such as masks goggles gloves etc.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to read write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
