This position may be filled at either the Engineering Services Manager ($120,601-149,545) or City Engineer level ($126,631-157,022) depending on qualifications. Due to the unique history of the development of Port Townsend, opportunities are abound for out of the box and progressive thinking. Meanwhile, enjoy the wonderful seaport and natural beauty of the area. Water is the name of the game in Port Townsend whether addressing capital need for our 30-mile water supply pipeline, protecting the shoreline against erosion, or kayaking, fishing, sailing, diving, etc. Located in Western Washington, Port Townsend has only 20 inches of rain per year. Come help us make this corner of the world a little better than we found it.This position is a growth opportunity position with the potential to move into an expanded role within the City.Requirements for Deputy PW Director/Engineering Services ManagerGraduation from college with a degree in civil engineering, construction management, business or closely related fieldMinimum of 8 years of experience as a practicing manager in an engineering fieldValid Washington State Driver's license and ability to maintain a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrierPreferredPreferred Master of Science Degree in a related field8 years of experience in a management and/or supervisory roleWork experience in municipal engineering or consulting engineering for governmental clients Requirements for Deputy PW Director/City EngineerLicensed engineer in the State of Washington or the ability to obtain a license within 6 months of hireGraduation from college with a degree in civil engineering or closely related fieldA minimum of 6 years of experience as a practicing licensed engineer, 4 years of which is in a management role2 years of experience working in a municipal engineering environmentValid Washington State Driver's licensePreferredMaster of Science Degree in a related field10 years of experience practicing as a licensed engineer, 6 of which is in a management role and municipal engineering position or as a consultant for governmental agencies
