PART-TIME ENCAMPMENT MAINTENANCE WORKER
SALARY: $17.00 per hour
DEFINITION: Under general supervision, performs related duties as required,
which may include but not be limited to, weed abatement and park maintenance
duties.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
Duties may include:
1. Provide clean-up, transportation, and disposal of bio-hazardous and non-hazardous waste and
other services as necessary to properly clean and clear the site; ensure all necessary safety
procedures are followed; as well as transportation of personal property items to the Corporation
Yard.
2. Remove and dispose of vegetation in order to gain access to encampment sites and raise trees
and shrubbery to allow better visibility of sites post-encampment removal.
3. Work with law enforcement to ensure camps are clear of occupants prior to commencing.
4. Operates small equipment; performs routine equipment maintenance.
5. Photograph the encampment site before and after the cleanup to document the condition of the
site.
6. May assist in special projects such as tree removal projects, weed abatement, applying
herbicides and pesticides, and other physical arrangements.
7. Performs other duties assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS GUIDELINE:
Knowledge: Operation and maintenance of equipment and tools used in encampment abatement;
application of herbicides; cleanup techniques.
Experience: One year of experience similar to encampment related abatement that included removal
and disposal of debris and shrubbery; using small equipment; or any combination of training and
experience that provides the desired knowledge and abilities.
Ability to: Learn and apply encampment abatement techniques and methods; operate equipment and
power tools; make minor repairs to equipment; follow verbal instructions; establish and maintain
cooperative working relationships; understand and follow verbal and written directions; work safely
and efficiently.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Possession of a valid California Driver’s License.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Strenuous physical work. Physical demands include frequent lifting of objects
over 50 lbs. often combined with bending, twisting, working above ground and/or on irregular
surfaces.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Continuous exposure to unpleasant elements such as dust, fumes, odors,
dampness, high noise levels, or outside weather conditions. Job sites may be in heavy foliage, steep
embankments, by rivers or creeks, and other locations requiring alertness to the environment and
pre-planning to prevent injury or illness.
SPECIAL CONDITION: Prior to appointment candidates must pass a background check, drug/alcohol
screen, and physical.
