Job Description:
This is the entry-level class of Field Services Worker, responsible for performing semi-skilled and manual labor associated with construction, maintenance, and repair of streets, sewers, and other public works.
Specialization Areas:
- Streets Division: asphalt, drainage, lighting, refuse, water production/distribution, sewers, traffic signals, electrical/electronic work, and traffic signs and markings
Duties:
- Operates and maintains equipment such as pick up, dump, and tower truck, backhoes, jackhammer, power and chain saws, refuse trucks, vactor, telemetry and/or street painting equipment
- Installs and repairs water mains and service lines; repairs and replaces water meters
- Cleans sewer lines and storm drains; operates camera to inspect sewer lines and monitor flow
- Maintains sewer lift station pumps
- Provides training and guidance in areas of specialization to unskilled workers
Requirements:
- Field Services Worker I: one year of experience in unskilled maintenance or construction work
- Field Services Worker II: one year of experience in the area of specialization performing the full range of duties within the specialty
Preferred Qualifications:
- Basic concepts of equipment maintenance and repair; basic equipment and materials used in general construction work
- Valid California Driver's License Class A or B with Air Brake Endorsement
