ACCOUNTANT - SOCIAL SERVICES
HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES DEPARTMENT, ACCOUNTANT
Public Health & Social Services Split - Full-Time (37.5 hrs.)
The City of Portland’s Health and Human Services Department is looking to hire a full-time Accountant. The candidate selected to fill this important position reports to the Principal Financial Officer of the Health and Human Services Department. This position splits time between Public Health and Social Services, 50/50. This position processes the weekly department’s payroll and maintains all payroll registers and reports.
Additional Duties May Include:
- A/P processing
- Reconciling general ledgers and maintaining records of accounting receipts and expenditures.
- Assist in pre-audits revenues and expenditures and the preparation of financial reports.
- Prepares miscellaneous billings based on adjustments.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Working knowledge of and ability to use accounting and auditing principles, methods and procedures in working with numerous accounts. Working knowledge of applicable software accounting systems.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, clients, and representatives of State and federal agencies.
- Ability to operate calculators and personal computers.
- Working knowledge of spreadsheet software.

Salary & Benefits:
This is a CEBA union position, (Grade 13) - Salary starting at $23.50/hr.
