EVENT MANAGER
EVENT MANAGER – Parks, Recreation & Facilities Department.
Full-Time, 37.5 hour position
The Public Assembly Facilities Division is responsible for the scheduling and management of Merrill Auditorium, James A Banks Sr. Portland Exposition Building, Hadlock Field, Ocean Gateway and Fitzpatrick Stadium. This division provides all event services including front of house and backstage operations as well as security, concessions and custodial services. Prime Tenant contracts include Portland Symphony Orchestra, Portland Ovations, Portland Sea Dogs, Maine Celtics and the Portland School Department. In addition, this division oversees the permitting of events in the City’s parks, open spaces and streets and manages large scale outdoor events including the annual July 4th celebration on the Eastern Prom. The Division is responsible for over 600 events annually.
The Event Manager is responsible for all aspects of event management at the Public Assembly Facilities Division in the City of Portland, which includes Merrill Auditorium, James A. Banks, Sr. Portland Exposition Building , Hadlock Field, Ocean Gateway, Fitzpatrick Stadium and City owned public spaces. This role also serves as a liaison to the promoter for events and performances. In addition, this position is the primary contact for promoters and oversees the planning, execution, and follow-up phases of an event while also managing Event Staff, as well as Operations and Food and Beverage employees during events. This position requires a varying schedule that includes nights, weekends, holidays, long shifts and last minute assignments.
Required Skills & Experience:
- A degree from an accredited college or university in a related field, or any equivalent combination of experience and training in a related field.
- Event management experience.
- Supervisory experience.
- Working knowledge of principles of event security, including crowd control.
- Ability to communicate effectively both written and orally with staff, clients, supervisors, promoters, vendors and customers.
- Ability to manage short and long term projects specific to the division and/or facility.
- Must possess strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes nights, weekends and holidays.
- Must possess a valid Class C driver's license in good standing.,

Salary & Benefits:
This is a union position, ProTech (Grade 6) - Starting salary range: $51,226.76 - $64,896 depending on experience.
