SHELTER SECURITY GUARD - GENERAL ASSISTANCE
HEALTH & HUMAN SERVICES SOCIAL SERVICES DIVISION
Security Guard-Full Time (37.5 hours per week)
Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday 7:30a.m. - 4:30 p.m, and Thursday 7:30am- 1p.m.
Location: General Assistance Office - 39 Forest Ave.
This position will handle internal and external security through visual observation at the General Assistance office. They will be responsible for using safety protocols to greet facility guests, perform scheduled and random searches during check-in/open hours times and by staff request. The Shelter Security Guard will be responsible for addressing guest or visitor concerns and conflicts, alerting Shelter/General Assistance staff of guests in crisis, assisting in emergency situations, and reporting any suspicious activity.
Required Skills & Experience:
- The ideal candidate for this position has a professional disposition and excellent customer service skills.
- They also possess the ability to stay calm and de-escalate crisis situations.
- Ability to work on their feet for extended periods of time, and the ability to establish and maintain professional boundaries with clients.
- Applicants should have previous experience with vulnerable populations.< LI>Experience with incident documentation and related paperwork, experience working as part of a team in a fast-paced, client-focused setting.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Salary & Benefits:
This is a union position, CEBA (Grade 8) - Pay range starting at: $20.57/hour.
