The CAD Technician I classification is utilized within the Bureau of Transportation in the City of Portland. These positions perform routine to moderately difficult computer-aided drafting (CAD) assignments to create and modify facilities maps and drawings, including facility adjustments of street improvement projects; gather and integrate data from various sources including GIS, survey, and civil, traffic, structural, and environmental engineers to produce contract plans; produce civil detail, section, and profile drawings; reproduces and distributes maps and drawings; researches, interprets and verifies data; reconciles conflicting and/or missing data by reviewing records, maps and plans and making field site visits; Use DocuSign to acquire signatures for engineering plans and documents; and performs related duties as assigned.

What you’ll get to do:
- Perform advanced specialized computer-aided drafting (CAD) assignments to create drawings of construction plans using base maps and other data.
- Work closely with your CAD team and engineers to resolve design problems and provide solutions to get projects constructed. There is a basic level of understanding of engineering practices that is required for this job, and an ongoing system of terms and processes to learn.
- Update plans with addendum and change order revisions.
- Perform a variety of engineering technical duties to support engineering staff, including assisting engineers with research, field inspections, analysis and verification of legal descriptions and other engineering support duties or calculations as assigned.
An Ideal Candidate will have Formal training in Computer Aided Drafting and Design or 12 months of applying the principles of CAD software in developing professional quality plans and have experience with the concepts, methods and techniques using CAD software.

- Possess Experience using Bentley Software such as MicroStation and OpenRoads.
- Possess experience working on Capital Improvement Projects.
