Nature of Work:
Under general supervision, assists the Pool Manager with overall administrative duties for the swimming pool. This position works under the direct supervision of the Pool Manager and may be placed in charge of the pool operation in the Manager’s absence.
Primary Duties:
- Training lifeguards in preparation for the upcoming season and throughout summer
- Exercise supervision of all swimming pool and concession stand staff.
- Supervises daily cleaning of facility and maintenance of equipment.
- Completes required reports and records including incidents, accidents, theft, vandalism, payroll, daily attendance and daily logs.
- Assists with pre-season and post-season preparations and cleanup.
- Assign and schedule staff for cleaning, pool parties, team practices, and all other operations or special events.
- Responsible for overseeing concession financial reporting, sales inventory and orders.
- Issues written and oral instructions.
- Fields questions, concerns, complaints related to pool operations.
- Communicates official plans, policies, and procedures to staff, public and administration.
- Enforces pool rules and regulations.
- Supervises, disciplines and instructs subordinate personnel.
Other Duties:
· Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
· Performs various maintenance duties to maintain a clean and safe facility.
· Provides courteous and expeditious customer service to the general public and City department staffs.
· Notifies City staff of weather related closings.
· Performs miscellaneous job-related duties.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Ability to supervise, instruct and assign subordinate personnel.
· Skill in the application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques.
· Knowledge of CPR and emergency medical procedures.
· Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, participants, community leaders, City Administration and general public.
Minimum Qualifications:
· Possession of a valid American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certificate.
· Possession of a valid American Red Cross C.P.R. for the Professional Rescuer Certificate.
· Must posses a valid driver’s license.
· High School Diploma or GED.
· Available to work as necessary on weekends, nights and holidays.
· 1 - 2 years of pool management experience.
