Title: Lifeguard

Salary Range: $15.25- $20.50 per hour-based on experience
Reports To: Pool Manager/Management Assistant

Nature of Work:
Under general supervision, accomplishes specialized work in protecting life by preventing and responding to emergencies, assisting in instructions, and assisting in the operation of a public swimming pool; and performs related work as required.
Primary Duties:
· Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the facility; acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of an emergency.
· Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
· Performs various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.
· Attends and participates in in-service training sessions.
· Provides courteous and expeditious customer service to the general public and City department staffs.
· Enforces Pool Rules and regulations.
· Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions.
· Skill in the application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques.
· Knowledge of CPR and emergency medical procedures.
· Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
· Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
· Possession of a valid American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certificate.
· Must be 15 years of age by Saturday, May 23, 2025, to start work as a lifeguard.
· Must be available and flexible to work various hours during the week and weekend through Labor Day (exception for college guards).
· Some related work experience preferred by not required.
· Bonus potential based on hours worked
