Description
Under the general supervision of the Director of Development Services or his / her designee, the purpose of this position will handle the day-to-day municipal planning activities for the City of Princeton. Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates a variety of basic and moderately complex site development applications and plans to determine compliance with the City of Princeton land use, subdivision, flood hazard, and zoning regulations. Review site plans and applications for proposed commercial and residential development projects to ensure compliance with zoning ordinances and community development plans. Reviews applications for, subdivision development, annexation, site development, re-plats, conditional use permits, and sign permits.
Essential Functions
- Review site plans and applications for proposed residential, commercial, and industrial development projects.
- Review zoning requirements, development process, and applications with applicants.
- Studies maps, plans, ordinances and performs field inspections, and takes photographs.
- Manages the issuance of zoning and use permits.
- Assists with issuing building and zoning permits, waiting on customers, and answering telephones.
- Assists with long range planning projects.
- Responds to inquiries from the public about subdivision review process, zoning process, variance, land use, and specific development projects.
- Reviews zoning for business license applications, home occupations, and certain zoning permits.
- Assists with code enforcement inspection and citation activities.
- Research prior zoning actions.
- Performs other duties as assigned or needed.
Qualifications
High School diploma or GED; Two years professional level municipal planning experience preferred. Bachelor's degree in related field may be accepted in lieu of professional experience. Knowledge of the principles and theories of community development and planning. Knowledge of State and Municipal statutes and codes relating to municipal planning and zoning, annexation, and floodplain management. or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must possess a valid State of Texas Driver's License, must have a working cell phone, and the ability to respond to after-hours calls. Reliable transportation, and ability to drive; maintain and provide proof of liability insurance. Have and maintain a professional, inviting, and friendly demeanor. Ability to pass a background check, pre-employment drug screening, and physical exam.
