Description

POSITION SUMMARY :

A skilled clerical position responsible for providing assistance and guidance to contractors, developers, utility companies and residents.

Normal Work Schedule : Monday - Friday 8 : 00am to 4 : 30pm. Additional hours, including weekends and holidays may be required.

Example Of Duties

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned as dictated by operational necessity.

  • Process building permit applications, including the payment of permit fees and the processing of certificates of occupancy.
  • Assist contractors and the public with completing forms.
  • Process check and cash building permit application fees, re-inspection fees, impact fees, miscellaneous fees, and insurance payments.
  • Answer the phone and transfer calls to appropriate personnel.
  • File permits, documents, etc.
  • Balance cash drawer daily and make up bank deposits.
  • Pull finalized files and check for completion.
  • Fax documents, make copies.
  • Maintain permit application files.
  • Make calls to customers pick up permits, duplicate plans, plans changes and truss engineering.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

  • Working knowledge of the proper construction of English grammar and syntax.
  • Working knowledge of various office equipment, including personal computer, copier, fax machine, 10-key calculator, multi-line telephone, etc.
  • Knowledge of standard customer relations practices, including answering telephone calls, answering questions, etc.
  • Skill in proof-reading documents and making appropriate corrections.
  • Skill in the operation of various office equipment. Must be able to type 50 words per minute on an office personal computer with minimal errors.
  • Ability to articulate clearly both orally and in writing in a professional manner.
  • Ability to prioritize and arrange schedules.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment with average supervision and oversight.
  • Ability to perform many jobs at one time.
  • Ability to work under stressful situations and keep calm in difficult situations.
  • Education and Experience :

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate required.
  • Two years' clerical experience in a resonably fast-paced office environment.
  • Valid Florida driver's license required.
  • Notary Public or the ability to acquire a Notary Public's certification required.
