The Pioneer Park Pavilion is conveniently located in picturesque Pioneer Park with a large 8600 sq. ft. multi-purpose room, and is the site of many community meetings and private events.

The Facility Attendant provides the primary point of customer service contact for the Pioneer Park Pavilion during events and rentals. This position is responsible for building and event supervision, event preparation, and required janitorial duties at the Pioneer Park Pavilion. Facility Attendants are responsible for set up and take down of facility equipment for events and rentals; working at events as scheduled and providing feedback to the facility Supervisor. This position involves a great deal of contact with the public and therefore requires good attention to detail and excellent customer service skills. Normal attention to detail is required to prevent errors. The Facility Attendant will report to the Pioneer Park Pavilion Supervisor.
The Facility Attendant position is a non-benefit, part-time position, with work hours that vary from 10 to 15 hours per week depending on events and rentals. The majority of hours worked will be on the weekends, however some hours may include late night shifts and weekdays, depending on the schedule of rentals and events. Occasionally, this position may be assigned to cover shift absences or additional hours on short notice.
- Performs moderate to heavy physical labor to set up the facility for events and rentals, to include the set up and take down of chairs, tables, portable stage (light maintenance);
- Sets up audio-visual equipment and lighting;
- Uses office equipment including computer, phone, fax machine and copy machine;
- Maintains equipment inventory;
- Deals tactfully and pleasantly with the public and staff, responds to public inquires and requests;
- Performs overall building supervision and crowd control;
- Performs janitorial duties, such as sweeping, mopping, and cleaning restrooms;
- Clears and secures facility at closing time;
- Provides feedback to the supervisor;
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge of:
- First aid and CPR;
- Basic computer skills;
- Correct grammar and basic arithmetic;
- Recreation events and promotional tools and procedures.
Ability to:
- Learn technical setup of audio/visual equipment, and lighting;
- Perform moderate to heavy physical labor to set up facility for events and rentals to include the set up of tables, chairs, portable stage, and stage lighting, and to perform janitorial duties;
- Work a flexible schedule (to include weekdays, weekends and late night shifts) with minimal supervision;
- Communicate effectively, orally and in writing;
- Provide excellent customer service when dealing with the public in a pleasant and courteous manner;
- Establish and maintain positive, effective working relationships with coworkers;
- Perform detailed routine procedures accurately under pressure with interruptions;
- Follow through and complete tasks as assigned;
- Operate/maintain equipment as assigned; and
- Quickly learn programming methods, facilities, and goals.
Education and Experience:
- Graduation from high school or GED required.
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be minimum of 18 years of age or older;
- Possession of a valid Washington State driver's license is required;
- Possession of, or the ability to, obtain a valid basic First Aid and CPR certification by start date. You may obtain training through various organizations. Two local agencies which meet OSHA and WISHA standards are the Puyallup Fire Department and the American Red Cross. You may contact them for current class information.
- Compliance with Child/Adult Abuse Information Act (RCW 43.43.830-43.43.840).
- Completion of employer-provided Bloodborne Pathogens Awareness, Fire Suppression Awareness and Hazard Communication training initially upon employment.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
- One year experience of recreational event coordination is strongly desired; and
- Prior clerical experience is desired.
Constant Demands: Hearing, seeing, talking. Frequent Demands: Sitting, repetitive hand and arm motion, fine finger manipulation. Occasional Demands: Standing, walking, lifting (average of 30-50 pounds); bending at the waist, crouching, kneeling/squatting, reaching below the knees – knees to shoulder – and above the shoulder, and handling/grasping. Works primarily with moderate noise levels for several hours at a time.
