What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-Time Paratransit Operator position at City of Racine?
Provides safe, reliable, courteous transportation services to D.A.R.T. customers of the Belle Urban System.
Responsibilities:
·Safe operation of the bus according to established rules, practices and published schedules. Comply with
DOT/FTA and ADA guidelines, rules and regulations.
·Provides general information to passengers on how to use the D.A.R.T. transportation services provided by The Belle Urban System.
·Collect fares and D.A.R.T. tickets from passengers and account for daily fares on required paperwork.
·Treat all customers with friendliness and consideration. Take special care to meet the needs of persons with disabilities per ADA and company guidelines. Operate lift in accordance with proper procedures. Secure wheelchairs properly.
·Perform safety and operational inspection of bus to ensure passenger comfort and bus reliability. Report any defects to maintenance personnel on proper forms.
·Conform to all bulletins and special notices. Comply with current labor agreement between union and management.
·Take direction from supervisors and dispatchers. Report to work on time and maintain good attendance record. Complete reports and other paperwork as required. Must be able to work irregular hours.
Minimum qualifications; Must have a valid WI drivers license. Must be at least 21 years of age.
Requirements: Ability to communicate well with the public. Good customer relations and people skills. Must be able to read and complete basic reports. High school graduate preferred. Good driving record.
Performance requires a normal physical ability to do some bending, light lifting and carrying. Ability to pass a physical examination and drug test.
