Job Description
The City of Raleigh is seeking a motivated person who loves sports, working out, and making a difference in the lives of the people they teach. This person must have amazing customer service skills and be an excellent communicator.
We are looking for skilled athletic instructors who will focus on building athletic skills and abilities while having a fun and upbeat class. Candidates must be team players, flexible, dependable, and motivated.
Duties and Responsibilities
Design class workouts.
Adapt curriculum based on participant needs.
Teach scheduled classes, begin, and end on time; provide adequate warm-up, exercises, stretching, and cool down.
Instruct patrons on effective workout methods. Explain proper techniques, demonstrate exercises, and teach appropriate methods to strengthen / stretch specific muscles.
Prepare appropriate equipment (if used), and music (if used).
Assist patrons, answer questions, and maintain a positive exercise experience for class participants.
Keep management informed of any concerns or issues related to customers, the facility, or equipment needs.
Provide advanced notice to Management of expected tardiness, calling out for sickness and vacation.
Ensure that safety standards are maintained, and that department and facility policies are adhered to.
Perform related duties as required.
Provide a safe and fun environment for participants.
Typical Qualifications
First Aid / CPR / AED Certified
2 years of teaching experience in recreation programs is preferred.
Great communication skills
Motivated individual
Applicant must attend all required training.
Must pass a comprehensive background check and controlled substance test
Additional Information
Knowledge of techniques and dynamics of athletic training
Knowledge of a variety of sports
Knowledge of sports equipment and its proper and safe use.
Prior experience in leading sport-based programs
