Job Description
The Collections Coordinator / Registrar (CCR) will provide general oversight for documentation and care of the City of Raleigh Municipal Art Collection's diverse works of over 650 objects, including public art objects. The CMR will be responsible for the management of collections records and the database, administering all collections care and managing documentation for the permanent collection, incoming and outgoing artworks, and applying best practices to the work of the municipal art collection.

About Us
The Office of Raleigh Arts, a part of the City of Raleigh's Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department, fosters and promotes the arts in Raleigh by administering the programs of the Raleigh Arts Commission and the Public Art and Design Board and supporting the Pullen and Sertoma Arts Centers.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversees the management and preservation of the collection. Oversees the accessioning process, including recording object information, photographing objects, proper housing for objects, and conducting annual inventories.
- Creates all signage for accessioned and placed artworks.
- Oversees long-term loan partnerships (incoming and outgoing loans); conducts annual condition reporting and processes loan renewal documentation.
- Evaluates works needing conservation treatment and recommends and initiates opportunities for a remedy to the Curator of Exhibitions and Collections.
- Management of the collections database (Past Perfect), including data clean-up, and works to ensure data standardization.
- Prepares list of acquisitions for annual report and registrar's report of acquisitions for City of Raleigh Arts Commission and annual insurance renewal.
- Ensures performance to standards set by American Alliance of Museums (AAM) standards.

Working Conditions
Work is usually performed in an indoor environment. Flexible availability is required as hours vary by season, averaging 19 hours / week over the course of a year. Work is typically scheduled during regular office hours (8 : 30am-5 : 15pm), with some evening and weekend hours required.
