As the Senior Utilites Technician, you will be responsible for providing operational, technical and maintenance support for the City's water, wastewater, collection and distribution systems. Work involves performing specialized activities and leading skilled or semi-skilled work completed by technical staff. About You : The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, able to motivate team members to complete assigned tasks while working primarily in a group and occasionally solo. Working knowledge of Microsoft products, time management, organization skills is essential, along with the ability to identify work issues and provide solutions in a safe, effective manner. Our ideal candidate should maintain a culture of safety while also identifying opportunities to develop and advance safe work practices as equipment and job tasks evolve.About Us : This position is assigned to the Raleigh Water Meters Division. Responsible for ensuring safe, sustainable water is being supplied with minimal interruption to 650,000 residents and millions of visitors to the capital city annually. Division assignments also consist of reading, monitoring, maintaining, repairing, and replacing the cities 216,000 water meters, vaults, and appurtenances. New meter installations are completed at a rapidly growing rate. Larger size meters are required to meet annual testing standards.
