Athletic Field Maintenance is seeking candidates that have a passion for providing exceptional customer service and a commitment to serving others. Dedicated to the maintenance and management of City of Raleigh athletic fields, the Athletic Field Maintenance Worker is a member of a team to implement professional maintenance standards and procedures involving park maintenance.

They will be dedicated to working collaboratively as part of a team to ensure proper maintenance of City of Raleigh athletic fields, including tasks such as grooming, painting, and setting up facilities for games, practices, and tournaments.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, customer-focused, and able to perform physical labor, operate maintenance equipment, and follow safety and maintenance protocols. They should also be skilled in basic computer operations and have the ability to work effectively both independently and in a team setting.

The City of Raleigh Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department is seeking candidates that align with the City's values, is team-oriented and a leader with passion and vision for parks and serving the community.
Work Hours:
Monday – Friday, 7:00 am – 3:30 pm with a potential summer schedule, 6:00 am – 2:30 pm.
Perform athletic field maintenance tasks (grooming, marking, painting, etc.) to provide proper set up of facilities for games, practices, and tournaments
Assist with landscaping tasks like mowing, edging, blowing, and sod removal/replacement
Maintain and clean facilities through field fencing repairs, litter removal and field renovation projects when necessary
Sustain maintenance records and preventative schedules for all assigned equipment
Assist City in cleanup and repair during inclement weather situations
High School Diploma or GED and one year of maintenance or customer service experience related to assignment
OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.
Licensing and Certifications:
- Valid North Carolina Class C Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire
- Ability to operate standard grounds maintenance equipment
Knowledge of:
Athletic fields and equipment used to maintain (Sand Pro, line markers, paint machines, etc.)
Basic mathematical concepts, filing and record keep principles applicable to federal, state and local laws, codes and regulations
Occupational hazards and applicable standard safety principles, methods and practices
Skill In:
Following directions and meeting standards while providing attention to detail in assignments and operating assigned tools and equipment
Providing customer service
Ability to:
Perform manual labor necessary to maintain athletic fields
Perform basic math computations to lay out athletic fields accurately and by provided specifications
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public
Positions in this class typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Heavy Work:
Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in both the field and in an indoor office environment with moderate exposure to atmospheric conditions (such as fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, etc.); moderate exposure to environmental conditions (such as disruptive people, imminent danger, or a threatening environment); and frequent exposure to intense noise.
