Manage and maintain GIS data to ensure accuracy, reliability, and timeliness for the Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system Develop and execute data processing workflows to support critical public safety operations Collaborate with Emergency Dispatch and other city departments to gather business requirements and ensure GIS data meets operational needs. Maintain up-to-date metadata Use automation tools to streamline data workflows and improve efficiency Ensure adherence to data quality management frameworks, with a focus on public safety applications
Bachelor's degree in information technology, geography, geographical information systems or directly related field and two years of professional level GIS programming, analysis, data management and/or cartographic products
OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency with GIS tools, including Desktop GIS and ArcGIS Online
- Expertise in data processing, automation, and quality assurance for public safety applications
- Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP) or Esri Certification
- Familiarity with CAD system integration and real-time data workflows
- Experience with RDBMS spatial data management, REST web services, and ETL processes
- GIS data modeling and quality management
- Python scripting for data automation and ETL processes
- Problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, especially in high-stakes environments like emergency dispatch
- Communicating technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Fostering collaboration and building strong cross-departmental relationships
Positions in this class typically require: standing, walking, fingering, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Light Work:
Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work, and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light work.
Working Conditions:
Work is routinely performed in an indoor, office environment.
